Ed Sheeran’s already received major recognition and popularity in the U.S. but he’s just so good that everybody needs to hear his music, and that’s why I’m sharing this song here.
There are a lot of love songs out there. This one stands out as hopeful and inspiring, but also honest, humble and solemn. The song and the music video build into a state of desperation, helplessness, and vulnerability.
The story in the video is a beautiful match for the song, following the errands of an urban cupid who, while shooting strangers with arrows of love and causing them all to fall in love with whoever they see first, grows more and more in need of a love of her own. The video ends with her stabbing herself with her own arrow in a final act of desperation, giving up on her search for love, but yet leaving the chance for someone to still find her and like Sleep Beauty wake her from her slumber.
