Iggy Azalea – Work
With rap going pop and now slowly turning off the auto-tune, it’s no wonder Iggy Azalea is breathe of fresh air. This being proven by being the first non-American female rapper to be featured on XXL’s annual “Top 10 Freshman” cover issue in 2012. This female mc has been getting attention, from ASAP Rocky to T.I., ever since her free styling videos on youtube started to go viral (check out her first low budget music for her controversial song Pu$$y).
She’s released 2 EP’s Ignorant Art and Glory and is set to release her first full length album titled “The New Classic” this fall. Iggy proves she’s more than just a pretty face with surprisingly refreshing hard vocal stylings reminiscent of early 90’s Femcee’s such as Queen Latifah and Salt’n’Pepa with no trying-to-sing sounds like current rappers such as Nicki Manaj.
Check out her stripped down version of UK chart topper Work which is getting some airplay in the State side but we’ll see if this will become her official U.S. debut release.
